On 13 Aug 2026, the Malaysian Bar paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice of Malaysia, YAA Tun Wan Ahmad Farid b Wan Salleh, at the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya. The Malaysian Bar delegation was led by the President of the Malaysian Bar, Anand Raj and comprised 30 Bar Council members as well as officers from the Malaysian Bar Secretariat. The meeting, held at the request of the Malaysian Bar, was a gesture of respect and goodwill as well as to reaffirm the Bar’s commitment to maintaining a close and constructive relationship with the Judiciary in upholding the rule of law and the proper administration of justice. The Compendium of Personal Injury Awards
The Compendium of Personal Injury Awards is now upgraded, updated and launched – 13 July 2026. A joint effort by the Bar and Courts. The previous edition of the Compendium was more than 10 years ago. The Compendium now reflects amongst others additional items of injuries, higher awards and an advised inflationary rate to be taken into account. Copies will be made available soon. The ‘offender’ minor (aka kaki buli, gangster sekolah, taiko kelas) can now be ordered to pay compensation up to RM250,000. Parents beware. The liability to pay transfers to the parents (!). The parents can also be ordered to undergo mandatory counseling and parenting support programs along with the ‘buli’ child. Time to pay more attention to children. Congratulations to all those appointed. All the best to the parents!
